How Does a Gentleman Deal With Emotion?

Afternoon gents, it’s Max from The Young Gentleman’s Guide here! Today’s article will be tackling somewhat of a difficult question in today’s social climate; how does a gentleman deal with emotion? There are those who may shame men for being “toxically masculine” because they keep their emotions bottled up and rarely open up emotionally, and then on the opposite side of the spectrum, there are some figures, especially those around the manosphere who claim that showing any amount of emotion for any reason is as weak, feminine, “beta” behavior. Discussions about this subject are all over the place on the Internet, and both sides can end up looking extremely toxic when observed in a vacuum. So today, I’d like to throw my hat into the ring and give my take on how a gentleman should keep his emotions in check. So without any further delay, let’s get started!

Are We a Part of the “Manosphere”?

Afternoon gents, it’s Max from The Young Gentleman’s Guide here! So today’s article is going to be tackling a bit of a difficult question to answer, mainly because I’m going to be discussing some controversial people and concepts, but I feel like this is an important conversation to have at the present time. So, those of you reading have likely heard about the massive controversies surrounding social media personality Andrew Tate, and with his recent arrest in Romania, conversations about Tate and the principles he espouses are being more hotly discussed than ever. However, it’s not just Andrew Tate at the forefront of these discussions. The controversies surrounding Tate have also led to a broader discussion about the “manosphere” in general. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the “manosphere” is defined as “Websites and internet discussion groups that are concerned with men’s interests and rights as opposed to women’s, often connected with opposition to feminism or dislike of women.” While Andrew Tate is often presented as the face and leader of the “manosphere”, this subculture also consists of other websites and publications that espouse very similar talking points. However, we will mainly be focusing on Tate himself in this article as a means of answering this question: is The Young Gentleman’s Guide a part of the so-called “manosphere” that Andrew Tate is such a prominent leader of? Hopefully by the end of this article, I will have answered that question clearly. So without any further delay, let’s get started.

Seek out the Company of Other Gentlemen

Afternoon gents, it’s Max from The Young Gentleman’s Guide here! As a bit of background for this, I’ve been a part of a Men’s Ministry run by my church since my senior year of high school, and I must say that it’s been one of the greatest decisions that I’ve ever made in my life. I entered into the Men’s Ministry at a particular low point in my life where it felt like I was digging a huge rut for myself, my faith, and my future, and joining that ministry really was one of the first steps I took to climbing myself out of that rut. Over the past seven years, I’ve been in and out of that ministry due to going away for college and the entire world being shut down because of our response to the mysterious virus of unknown origin. Thankfully, for the last two years, we’ve been back holding our regular Wednesday morning meetings, and it has made me more thankful for this group of fellow Catholic gentlemen than ever. My experience with this Men’s Ministry has taught me one very important thing: if a gentleman surrounds himself with the company of other gentlemen, he will thrive. As is said in Proverbs 27:17 and is constantly repeated by my Men’s Ministry leader, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Today, I wanted to explore the meaning of that Proverb and explain why it’s important for a gentleman to surround himself with the company of other gentlemen. So without any further delay, let’s get started!

Cowboy Coffee: The Ins and Outs

Afternoon gents, it’s Max from The Young Gentleman’s Guide here! Yes, I know this is going to be yet another article about coffee, but I’m a coffee snob, so sue me! In any case, today, I want to go into a bit more detail about one specific method that I went over in The Gentleman’s Guide to Brewing Coffee. That method is cowboy coffee. There was a lot more detail about the method that I wanted to go over, but I only had so much time to do so in an article with four other entries included. So today, I wanted to go into more detail about this coffee brewing method, and also address some of the misconceptions that people have made about it. So, without any further delay, let’s get started!

What to Look for in a Girlfriend

Afternoon gents, it’s Max from the Young Gentleman’s Guide here! So in today’s article, I’m going to try and answer a question that is admittedly extremely difficult to answer. What should a gentleman look for when looking for a girlfriend? As mentioned just now, this can be a very difficult question to answer since a lot of what a man will find attractive in a woman is subjective. However, there are certain traits that I believe many of you young gentlemen reading should be looking for when they’re looking to find a nice young lady to date. These will not be physical traits since like I said, what a man may find physically attractive is generally subjective; what I’ll be talking about today are more subtle behaviors, attitudes, and personality traits that any young gentleman should keep an eye out for when looking for a young lady to date. So before this article turns into a full-length novel, let’s get started!
