Evening gents! Today I’m going to talk about something that genuinely makes me sick and makes me question my overall faith in humanity. In case you missed the featured image, what I’m talking about is a website is called the Return of Kings. They’re essentially a small community of activists that promote “neomasculinity”. You don’t really need to know what that means, but essentially, they believe that masculine, heterosexual men should be and are the norm, and that homosexuals, feminists, and gender equality are a poison that is bringing western civilization to a screeching halt. They also that a woman’s value is only dependent on only two things: her fertility and her beauty. Yes, you read that correctly. They believe that a woman’s only purpose in the world is to look pretty and make babies. They also mix up the meaning of “feminism,” and think it’s a system used to oppress and demean men. Seriously, try to say that and not either laugh or cringe. But it doesn’t stop there. They are actually huge hypocrites, encouraging sexual promiscuity among men, but outright shaming women who act as such, stating that it’s “damaging to the familial unit.” I wish I was making that up. On top of that, they actively reject any and all Hollywood movies since they think Hollywood is indoctrinating people into thinking that only women can be the hero, and that all the male characters are either the villain or a bumbling idiot. And while some of you may have your own opinions about those who post to or regularly read this site, I want to throw my hat into the ring and tell you why you should NOT support Return of Kings in any way, shape, or form.
So aside from the treasure trove of reasons I’ve already presented, there’s another big reason not to support these blatant misogynists. They are completely ignorant of the meaning of “masculinity” and “femininity” in today’s constantly evolving society, and it seems like those terms are really becoming obsolete. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe that on a pure scientific and biological level, women are different than men. But in today’s society, I believe that any woman should and does have the same opportunities that a man has. The “men” who support Return of Kings are clearly ignorant of the fact that women have started to become some of the most prominent politicians, CEOs, doctors, and professors in the world. Plus, there are so many hardworking women in the world who are also mothers! Now, I can’t even pretend to speak for anyone who’s a mother, but I can say that it has to be one of the most empowering things for any woman. But it’s not just that, the standards for men are constantly changing too, just ask any single dad out there. It’s actually socially acceptable, to a certain extent, for a man to open up emotionally outside of the arts (which I wrote an entirely separate post on, shameless plug ;D). Men can also feel more comfortable in their body even if they aren’t the stereotypical model with chiseled abs and all that nonsense. Men like that would make Return of Kings cringe! With today’s constantly evolving perceptions of masculinity and femininity, it just makes Return of Kings seem all the more ignorant and bigoted.
It honestly disturbs me so much that I even have to write this post right now, but sometimes the right thing has to be done. Don’t get me wrong, I am a massive proponent of free speech, but it seems like the “men” who support Return of Kings are living 200 years in the past. What they say is borderline hate speech against feminists, transexuals, homosexuals, and women in general who deviate from the outdated “gender roles” that Return of Kings hold themselves to. Hopefully those of you who read this post share it and hopefully assist in getting the website shut down. Also, to all who read this, please just share the same amount of respect to all people in your life, man, woman, or otherwise.
On that note, I think that’s all I have for now. Be sure to follow The Young Gentleman’s Guide on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, follow the blog, and read any other post on the blog. But until next time, this is Max from The Young Gentleman’s Guide, and I’ll see you on Friday!
